How we work

One in three of us will get cancer. 1.2 million of us are living with it today. Cancer affects us all. We can all help to improve cancer care. One of the most effective ways people affected by cancer can help is by talking about their experiences of cancer.

GI_CVPEOPLE_SCOT_0306People who live with cancer are experts by experience. Their knowledge can be used by health and social care professionals, the NHS, cancer charities such as Macmillan Cancer Support and other organisations involved in cancer care to improve cancer services. Together they can challenge the status quo, become a force for change, lead the way.

This was always the aim of the people affected by cancer who set up Cancer Voices in 2000. They wanted to use their experience to make a real difference to cancer services and help others to do the same.

Cancer Voices has gone from strength to strength with hundreds of people signed up looking to use their experience of cancer to make a difference.

Cancer Voices provides information on opportunities for people to voice their cancer experiences and to have their say on cancer services. These opportunities are listed on our searchable database known as Opportunities Exchange. Here you can find the right opportunity that suits your needs and interests.

Cancer Voices also provides a range of resources, training and support to people affected by cancer so they can use their experiences in the best way possible to improve cancer care.

Macmillan Cancer Voices is part of Macmillan Cancer Support, but the voices and opinions of individuals involved remain independent of Macmillan.
