Training
Cancer Voices offers training workshops to people affected by cancer and health and social care professionals. The workshops are designed to help these two groups work in partnership to improve cancer care and to raise people's awareness of their individual skills – yes, we all have some!
We can help you make the most of your experiences
'Cancer Voices come from all of walks of life and many have no experience of the settings we’re inviting them into. They need support to make the most of it. That’s why Cancer Voices training is so good. It helps inform patients and carers about the issues they’ll come across and give them confidence’. - Margaret Johnson, Cancer Voice Regional Contact for East Anglia
This type of training involves lots of group participation and last one or two days. The groups involved in the workshops are made up of people affected by cancer and health and social care professionals. They are usually small, between 12 and 18 people, and provide you with the chance to get involved with others who are united in a common goal: to improve cancer care.
As cancer services are delivered in different ways across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, we adapt the workshops to meet your needs wherever you live.
Current training workshops you can get involved in include:
-
Two-day Cancer Voices training – Making a difference to cancer services
-
The effective groups series – featuring units on running effective meetings, becoming a more effective user group, facilitating user group away days
-
Getting involved in tumour site specific groups
We can also tailor workshops and consultancy to meet the specific needs of a group. To discuss Cancer Voices training contact Debbie Veel on 020 7091 2046 or email dveel@macmillan.org.uk
