Create your own Macmillan poster
Striking posters and flyers are one of the best ways of getting noticed. We can help you create your very own masterpiece on www.be.macmillan.org.uk. No special skills are needed and there are many, many designs to choose from. You can also download our logo.
Order branded merchandise
How about getting your event noticed with balloons, t-shirts, stickers or even a green curly wig? You get all these from your fairy green mothers and fathers at your local fundraising office.
The internet and email
Make the most of the internet and email. Why not spread the word:
-
on social networking websites such as facebook.com and myspace.com. You could even set up a page for your event. Did you know Lily Allen got a number one record because of her own page on MySpace? You can have your own number one hit fundraiser!
-
via email to your friends and colleagues for support, and then keep them updated. But don't forget the personal touch by following up emails with a phone call or in person.
Local media
You can't go wrong with promoting your fundraising activity through local media. Get in touch with newsdesks at local newspapers or try to get the local radio and television stations interested in your event. You could invite the local press to attend your event on the day – send an invitation two weeks in advance. Include an invite for one of their photographers to come along.
But please contact your local fundraising office first for help and advice.
Work media
If you work for a company with an internal magazine or newsletter, don't forget to send them information too – the editor may well be keen to hear about your news and see pictures, especially if other members of staff from the company are involved.
Good luck and here's wishing you lots of great coverage for your events!
