Romania Hiking Challenge – 14-19 September 2009

Little-visited but stunningly beautiful, the Carpathian Mountains in Central Romania provide the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable challenge.

Our trek takes us to the heart of eastern Europe to explore the remote mountain region of the Carpathians, finishing with a visit to Bucharest, the vibrant capital city of Romania.

We will pass through stunning valleys and ancient forests dotted with Transylvanian castles and medieval villages.  As our route climbs up through remote mountain passes to a height of 2,500m we will be rewarded with awe-inspiring views and a chance to catch a glimpse of endangered wildlife, including brown bears.  Boasting rolling hills, glacial lakes and stunning gorges, this spectacular region offers some of the best trekking in Europe.

Join us for an incredible trip, which will not only leave you with life-long memories but also make a big difference to the lives of people affected by cancer.

'I would say to anyone new to trekking, this will be a fantastic experience and one you will never be able to explain fully to others. The people you meet are beyond words, the organisation is faultless, but the main thing is it changes your perspective on everything and gives you so much in return.

'I completed a Macmillan trek and not a day goes by when I don't sit back and think about it.  If you are enthusiastic and excited about it, the fundraising just happens.'
