Fundraising Teds

Fundraising Teds get warned about their speed!

We have already raised funds to provide 20 Macmillan nurses, doctors and other professionals such as dietitians and pharmacists helping people with cancer, and their families, both in hospitals and in the community.

Macmillan works with the NHS and other health and social care partners in your area to improve the lives of people affected by cancer today.

Macmillan in Bedfordshire is currently raising money for new services including:

  • a specialist Macmillan Oncology Pharmacist at the Luton & Dunstable Hospital.
  • a Macmillan Specialist Dietitian at Bedford Hospital, who will help cancer patients with specialist nutritional advice.
  • a Macmillan Community Nurse who will provide specialist advice and emotional support to patients with cancer, and their families, in their own home in Mid Bedfordshire.
  • a Macmillan Clinical Nurse Specialist at the Luton & Dunstable Hospital.
Financial and emotional support - when a cancer patient is too ill to work, an unexpected expense such as the washing machine breaking down or a high heating bill can become a real crisis at a time when they need to concentrate on getting well. Macmillan gives around £45,000 every year to help cancer patients throughout Bedfordshire.
