David Dyer

Cycle ride across Britain raises £2,830.00.
David Dyer

Intrepid actuary, David Dyer, spent his summer cycling the length of Britain raising money to help people affected by cancer in memory of his mother.

Setting off from Land's End and finishing in John O'Groats he was lucky to miss the worst of the weather, except for his hour in Wales, and managed the feat in 15 days.

As an actuary he provided us with some interesting statistics on his trip.

Distance: 952.1 miles (1,533km)
Time on bike: 91 hours 33 mins
Average Speed: 11.7mph
Max. speed: 39.2mph down a hill near Inverness
Climbed: 65,002ft
Descended: 65,191ft

So it is actually downhill from Land's End to John O'Groats.

After seeing some wonderful scenery and getting a great reception from those he met on the way David says 'if anyone else is tempted to do the trip – go for it, it is a great experience'.
