Third time lucky for runner Emma

Determined runner battled injury and foot & mouth restrictions to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Emma Collins of Langley, Slough originally signed up to run the March 2007 Reading Half Marathon for Macmillan but severely sprained her ankle before the race and had to pull out. However showing the persistence that makes a good distance runner and a determination to run for people affected by cancer she signed up for the Windsor Half Marathon in September.

Disaster struck a second time when an outbreak of foot and mouth in Surrey caused Windsor Great Park, where the race is held, to be closed and the race cancelled.

Luckily it proved third time lucky for Emma when she got a place in the Marlow Half Marathon on the 4th November. She put the extra preparation time to good use by finishing in 2hrs 37mins 12 secs and raising a fantastic £600 (including gift aid) to help support people affected by cancer.
