St Georges Day Abseil

On Sunday April 22nd, 11 brave souls abseiled down the 120ft cliff walls at Uphill Quarry, Weston-Super-Mare. It was a great day for all raising more than £1,500 for the local appeal.

Among those who stepped up to the challenge was Macmillan nurse, Henna Hirvi, a Colo – Rectal Specialist based at Weston Hospital who joined in hoping to raise awareness of bowel cancer. Henna said “A big part of our service is health promotion and raising awareness about bowel cancer symptoms. People with bowel cancer have a good survival rate if diagnosed early. National screening will be introduced in the near future and hopefully that will help us save more lives”.
