Shattered and covered in mud!
Shattered and covered in mud!

David is an amazing person having now completed three challenges for Macmillan Cancer Support.

In 2004 David completed the Inca Trail in Peru, when asked if he enjoyed it he replied:

'It was horrible, but great!  At one point I was at 13,000 ft, knackered, filthy and I thought "What am I doing here?"

'It was rewarding and humbling and I can look back on the experience with a sense of achievement.'

In 2006 David decided to take part in the Grand Canyon Trek which he described as a completely different experience.

David has now completed his most recent challenge, travelling to Nepal in October 2008.  He wrote to us:

'It was a memorable trip for a number of reasons. The trekking was superb as was the mountain scenery.  The weather was varied, some days hot and humid, other day's monsoon style rain and cold.  We also had rather large jumping spiders and leeches to contend with (not for the faint hearted).

'An added attraction were the Brits 9 (we couldn't muster 11) thrashing the Nepali porters at football 4-1.  The game was played in the pouring rain, in a sea of mud, on a mountainside in the middle of no-where and was thoroughly enjoyed by participants and spectators alike.  I don't know where we got our energy from.

'I raised about £5,500 for Macmillan on this trip and my 3 trips to date have now raised about £18,000. I'm very proud of that and there will be more to come as I continue with my post-trek fundraising.'

Well done and thank you to David!
