The pair raised the money in conjunction with Barrow-based BAE Systems, who had chosen Macmillan Cancer Support as its charity partner for 2007. They presented the cheque to Sue McDonald, fundraising manager for Cumbria.

She said: "Macmillan has had brilliant support from BAE Systems over the last 18 months. This money will go a long way to helping local people who are living with cancer and their families."

Lt Cloney and CPO Walker also held various fundraising events in Barrow, including a raffle – when a Barrow Raiders RL shirt and a Tranmere Rovers football top were up for grabs. They were also keen to thank the local businesses who had backed them.
