Windmill Walkers march on!
On Sunday 11 May, over 200 children and adults joined the Windmill Walk in Rottingdean to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support in Sussex. People from across Brighton and the surrounding area came together in the sunshine to walk either a two mile stroll or a nine mile hike for the charity.

60 children took part in the first ever fancy dress walk for Macmillan and were greeted by face painters, Rondo the Clown and a host of other entertainers. Will Hamilton, aged 10 from Brighton, said:
"I’ve had a good time and really enjoyed the clown and crisps! I also got a medal for coming first!"
The walks started at the Community Centre in Woodingdean and after a four hour hike across the Downs, the nine mile walkers returned here for refreshments and the chance to experience reflexology from trained professionals who donated their time for Macmillan.
Teresa Bayley, 58 from Newhaven, took part in the event in memory of her Nan who was supported by Macmillan during her cancer experience.
"Macmillan was there for my Nan at her time of greatest need and really helped her and the whole family. I will never forget the support they provided and that’s why I’m walking today: to remember such a wonderful person and to give a little something back to such a fantastic cause."
The Windmill Walk was a tremendous success and a final total is still to come in. Jane Eaton, Sussex Community Fundraiser and Event Organiser, said:
"We are so grateful to everyone who came along and supported the charity. Macmillan means so much to so many people and all of the funds raised by our participants will go towards continuing to improve cancer services for people living in Sussex."
Macmillan’s next summer event is the Peacehaven Abseil, taking place on Saturday 9 August. If you want to make the drop, then call the fundraising team on (01273) 746601 or e-mail sussexabseil@macmillan.org.uk.
