Join us!
Our new volunteering roles offer a fantastic opportunity to get involved with Macmillan Cancer Support by working with our experienced staff on projects and events in 2008, specifically the World's Biggest Coffee Morning (WBCM). If you're a student, graduate or considering a change in career we've got opportunities for you to build on your existing skills and gain new ones.
Our volunteering roles will interest you if you're looking for a placement in events, fundraising, marketing and PR and have an interest in the charity sector.
What could I do?
In 2007 Macmillan's flagship event, The World's Biggest Coffee Morning raised over £7 million to help people affected by cancer. We'd love you to join us in Yorkshire to proactively promote the event, give great support to our donors, secure press coverage, encourage support from new people and join us in planning and developing the activity.
About you
You'll be excited about working with a leading cancer charity and will want to ensure that people have a positive and memorable experience of our events by giving great care to our supporters and donors. You'll enjoy communicating with people face to face and on the phone and will show initiative in promoting the events and contributing to the team's fundraising success. Excellent organisational, written and verbal skills are a must.
What's in it for me?
Working with experienced fundraising teams on some of the most successful fundraising events in the UK! Being part of a supportive, lively and creative team, you'll learn and develop new skills such as presenting, press relations and marketing, events management, planning and strategy.
You'll be supported by the local fundraising team and we'll assist your personal development, offering you an induction program, feedback and careers advice.
Who we are

We are a force for change: listening to people affected by cancer and working together for better cancer care. One in three of us will get cancer. 1.2 million of us are living with it. From the moment you suspect you have cancer, it can be the beginning of a storm of changing emotions and practical needs. We can help you – or someone you love – through a whole range of support. We are all affected by cancer. We can all help. We are Macmillan.
