Asda staff raise over 1,630 for Macmillan Cancer Support

Asda Events Co-ordinator Dorothy Lang persuaded 22 of her colleagues to stride out for Macmillan Cancer Support and walk 10 miles from their Cramlington store to St Mary's Lighthouse.

Earlier this month staff collected sponsorship and organised events like domino games to help raise over £1,630 for people affected by cancer.

Michelle Muir, Fundraising Manager for Northumberland, said:

'I couldn't believe the amount raised when I went along to collect the cheque and was delighted to receive £1,621.60.  Dorothy told me members of staff and their families have been affected by cancer and they wanted to give something back to Macmillan.'

'The money raised will help provide practical, medical, emotional and financial help for people affected by cancer'.
