"The entire experience was fantastic and emotional. A close family friend has recently died through Cancer and was cared for at home by his family and the Nurses. We loved him and his wife Mary dearly and to be able to run for this charity was an honour. In 3 weeks since the funeral, with the help of my friends we have raised over £1,500 and this is still rising. I had trained for 3 months with my close friend Lazzy and we set ourselves a target of 3 hours 45 minutes. I came in in 3.35 and he was 3.42 so we were delighted in very warm conditions.
"The course was challenging with many long inclines but was also a delight to run with fabulous landmarks such as Gaudi's Sograda Familia and the Nou Camp, home of Barcelona football club.
"Support was sporadic as the Catalans have not yet taken marathon running to their hearts but it was great to hear a few cries of come on Macmillan from some friendly people.
"To say we had a few San Miguel's after is an understatement.
"What a great experience and thanks to my lovely wife Anna for her support and photo taking. Thanks to the ever positive and cheerful running hero partner Lazzy for his friendship and determination in training and on the race. Thanks to Macmillan for all the hard work you do in fund raising and in the vital role of supporting cancer patients and family."
