Did you see our advert on TV? Macmillan was everywhere!
Our successful media campaign has helped people find the support they need. Read on to find out how.
You will probably have seen our brand awareness campaign on the TV, radio, newspapers, billboards or online in the latter part of 2007 and over the last few months. The campaign had three aims:
-
Build awareness of Macmillan generally
-
Build awareness of some key services, e.g. financial support, face to face support at information centres and self-help and support groups
-
Encourage people to take up our services
'Someone living with cancer came into our Information and Support Centre and said the Macmillan advert on TV was the thing which gave him the final push to go and seek help.' Macmillan Professional.
We thought you would like to know how the publicity has helped Macmillan reach more people:
-
People’s knowledge of what we do has changed over the last six months; more people now mention financial support and information
-
85% of people who had seen the ads agreed that Macmillan ‘does so much more than nurses’
In addition to this:
-
More than 10,000 people affected by cancer have called us for support
-
The number of visits to certain web pages of our website has more than doubled
-
The number of visits to some information centres has increased
We are delighted that more people know who to call or where to go when they need help either for themselves, or for a loved one.
