Local volunteering

All offers of help are welcome, even if for only an hour or two. Your time will really help people living with cancer in Worcestershire. Jon Rayner, Fundraising Manager for Worcestershire says, 'Volunteers are the driving force of Macmillan, we need you to make the wheels turn! We welcome anyone as a volunteer, whether it's for the odd occasion or on a regular basis, in our office or in the community. Being a volunteer not only makes you feel good, it's a great way to meet new people and make a difference.'

Alison Harrison

The money you raise helps us to provide more health professionals, like Alison Harrison, Palliative Care CNS.

Macmillan Cancer Support raises money locally and spends it locally. In addition to our locally based team of health professionals, Worcestershire patients benefit from the support of Macmillan's many other services, such as the CancerLine, patient welfare grants and benefits advice. In 2007 we gave a total of £47,113 in one-off grants to 118 county patients who were in financial hardship.
There is a strong team of Macmillan health professionals in Worcestershire, all of whom are helping people living with cancer in our hospitals and local community. These include:
  • Macmillan community nurse teams supporting people affected by cancer in Redditch, Bromsgrove & the Wyre Forest
  • Macmillan nurses based in Evesham & Malvern who work both in local hospitals and in the community
  • Four Macmillan hospital support nurses and five Macmillan nurse specialists in chemotherapy, urology, lymphoedema, lung cancer and gynaecology, based in county hospitals
  • a Macmillan consultant in palliative medicine.
