Virtual fundraising events

Monday 14th January 2008 to Thursday 1st January 2009

Macmillan Cancer Support want people to cycle across America or swim the English Channel – without leaving their local gym. The challenges are part of Macmillan's new virtual fundraising events - an innovative new fundraising idea that will give everyone the chance to complete fantastic challenges using nothing more than their local gym and the internet.

To take part in a virtual event, all you need to do is visit www.macmillanvirtualevents.org.uk and register. There are five challenges to choose from, including cycling from Lands End to John to Groats, rowing around the UK and walking the Southern Upland Way.

After registering, a marker representing you or your team will appear on an online map of your chosen challenge.  Then all you need to do is get into your local gym and get walking, cycling, rowing or swimming to cover the number of miles in your challenge route.

After each session in the gym,  just log the distance you've covered into our website, and watch as your online marker makes its way across the challenge map.  You'll also be able to monitor the progress of the other people taking part in your fundraising event and chat to other challenge participants in an online forum.
