The last week of term say mayhem as Clyde Valley High School in Overtown, Wishaw held its annual charities week of activities. The school captains nominated Macmillan Cancer Support as this year's beneficiary and set a target of £2,000 for the five days of fun-charged events.
The week began with an S6 fancy dress day. Many of the sixth years were sold in a slave auction held in the staff room, with staff giving generously for the services of tea makers, car washers and room tidiers.
A hilarious staff version of Blind Date took place on the Tuesday with contestants elaborately dressed for the event.
Wednesday saw a fine array of entertainers dancing, singing, joke-telling and rock & rolling in the lunchtime talent show.
The highlight of the week was the evening final of the talent show 'Clyde Valley's Got Talent'. Played again to a packed theatre audience, the S2 dance troupe, The Wildcats made it two years in a row as the audience favourites.
On Thursday, Houldsworth House triumphed in the inter house Family Fortunes while Friday saw the staff fight back to earn a 2-2 draw in the annual staff versus pupils football match.
Barry Carlin of S6 underwent a dramatic transformation as his flowing, shoulder length hair was savaged in a sponsored haircut which raised over £400.
Other activities included a Gladiator challenge, gunge the teacher and a non uniform day. Mr Carrol, the Depute Head Teacher was delighted to announce the school had smashed its target and raised the magnificent sum of £3,572, the highest amount raised to date, which will be allocated to Macmillan's Lanarkshire Appeal to support local people affected by cancer.
