The money you raise will help us provide more information to people affected by cancer.

Your support so far has meant that Macmillan has already been able to fund a range of cancer care services in Glasgow, including spending £1million to make the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre more pleasant for patients and visitors.  Our architectural and arts advisors oversaw environmental improvement work throughout the Beatson, particularly in the Macmillan Chemotherapy Centre,  where we installed an innovative light therapy unit.

The Macmillan Information and Support Centre Manager has also been established in the Beatson as a pilot for three years, while benefits and advice services have been established around the city.  Macmillan has also funded grants for people who require financial support due to their diagnosis, and educational bursaries for cancer care health professionals to improve their knowledge and expertise.

Your continued support will allow us to fund the maintenance and continued improvement of the specially designed environment at the Beatson.

Other appeals in your area are:

Our Forth Valley appeal needs £750,000 to improve cancer services in the area. This money will provide a Macmillan clinical psychologist, a colorectal nurse specialist, a clinical nurse specialist in urology and an information worker to support cancer patients and their families.

Our Renfrewshire appeal needs £370,000 to provide funding for a Macmillan clinical nurse specialist, a Macmillan pharmacist to cover Renfrewshire and Inverclyde, as well as the ongoing funding of patient grants for those in need of financial assistance. There is also a new Cancer Information and Support Service based within the Renfrew Library which offers a relaxed, confidential space to talk about your experiences with cancer care nurses and trained volunteers. Information is available on all aspects of cancer.

Our Argyll and Bute appeal needs £400,000 to allow us to provide a Macmillan Carers Scheme for Islay and Jura. Funding will also be given for a Macmillan pharmacist who has specialist knowledge and expertise in cancer and palliative care, a Macmillan nurse consultant and GP facilitators who educate and train other GPs and district nurses.

Our Inverclyde appeal needs £250,000 to enable us to provide a Macmillan pharmacist, a Macmillan lead cancer nurse based in Inverclyde as well as educational bursaries for health care professionals and patient grants to cover extras such as heating, clothing and travel.

Our Lomond & Clyde appeal needs £200,000 to develop a carers' scheme for people affected by cancer in the Lomond & Clyde area. This service is free of charge to anyone affected by cancer that requires support and help with practical tasks.
