The money you raise will help us provide more information to people affected by cancer.
Your South East Wales & South Powys team are: Liz Cole – Fundraising Manager, Sue Pickin – Community Fundraiser and Allie Essery & Paula Langston – Fundraising Assistants
There are also 9 volunteer fundraising committees and groups across South East Wales helping to raise vital funds to support local people affected by cancer.
More than 7,000 people are diagnosed with cancer in South East Wales every year. They all need treatment and support which Macmillan provides by:
-
Health Specialists: People in South East Wales benefit from 43 Macmillan Health professionals which include Macmillan Nurses, GP Facilitators, Pharmacists, Benefit Advisors and specials Radiographers.
-
Someone to talk to: Macmillan is there for people with cancer, their families and friends to talk to, listen and understand what they are going through. Macmillan supports a network of several self help and support groups across South East Wales.
-
Financial help: Having cancer can bring extra costs – hospital parking, travelling expenses, extra heating and different clothes. Last year we gave approx £190,000 in Macmillan grants in South East Wales to help with some of these costs.
-
Clear Information: Having the right information about cancer at the right time is essential. The Macmillan CancerLine provides free information and emotional support for people living with cancer. Information is also available from Macmillan health professionals and the Macmillan YouthLine for people aged 12-21.
All of our services are provided free, and are funded entirely through the generosity of our supporters. This year we need to raise £650,000 in South East Wales, to ensure we can continue to develop local services, which include:
Gwent Area:
-
A Lung Cancer Nurse Specialist at Nevill Hall Hospital, Abergavenny
-
A Palliative Care Nurse Specialist at The Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport
-
A Haematology Clinical Nurse Specialist at The Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport

-
A New Breast Care Nurse at Prince Charles Hospital
