Fundraising tips
Whatever you do and whatever the size of your coffee morning, remember every single penny raised will help make a big difference to the lives of people affected by cancer.
Here are a few tips to help you raise those pennies:
-
Ask people to make a donation for the coffee they drink and the cake they eat.
-
If you'd rather not bake some treats – why not make smoothies for your coffee morning or coffee flavoured cocktails and sell them for a donation.
-
Have a cake baking competition and ask guests for a donation to taste and vote for their favourite cake.
-
Display your collection box in a prominent place.
-
Ask local businesses to donate prizes and hold a raffle or auction.
-
Ask friends or colleagues to think of a promise they can auction off, e.g. 'I'll make coffee for the highest bidder for a week' or 'I'll wash the car of the highest bidder'. Then get people together to auction these promises or do it over the company's intranet.
-
Coffee beans in a jar – fill a large jar with coffee beans and charge people a £1 donation to guess the number of beans in it. Half the money raised goes to the person who guessed closest ot the right amount, half goes to Macmillan.
-
If your coffee morning is early – why not sell bacon or sausage sandwiches for a donation. Wash them down with a large cup of coffee.
-
Organise a quiz and ask people to give a donation to enter it. Half the entry money goes to the winner, half goes to Macmillan.
