Enjoy a fun, family walk beginning and ending in the Lancashire village of Barley. Along the way, you will pass Lower and Upper Ogden Reservoirs before climbing the famous Pendle Hill. On top of the hill savour magnificent 360 degree views of Lancashire – and keep an eye out for witches – before descending and returning to Barley.

How to get there
From the M65 Junction 13, take the A6068 signposted towards Fence. At Fence turn right, following the brown signs to Barley Picnic site, via Newchurch-in-Pendle. Follow signs for Barley to approach Barley down a steep hill, on reaching the bottom of the hill, turn right following the brown signs for the Picnic Site and Car Park, which will then be immediately on your left hand side.

Registration
Open from 10.00am – 12.00 midday. *
The guided walk will set off at 11.00am

* You are welcome to set off at any time between 10.00am – 12.00 midday as long as you are accompanied by at least one other walker.

Walk duration
The five mile walk will take approximately two and a half hours.

Challenging aspects
Part of the route follows narrow and steep paths. We recommend that the walk is suitable for children over 5 years of age.

Children's activities
Children can take part in the Pendle Witches story trail around the route of the walk.

Suitability for pushchairs and/or wheelchairs
Unsuitable due to some narrow and steep footpaths and extremely uneven surfaces.

Suitability for dogs
The walk is suitable for dogs, but they will need to be kept on a lead at certain points of the walk.

Car parking
There is a car park available at the start/finish which costs £1.00 for all day parking.

Toilets
There are toilet facilities available at the car park at the start/finish.

Refreshments and picnicking
Bottles of water will be provided at the start of the walk. The Cabin Café is open from 9.00am – 5.00pm and the Pendle Inn is also open and is 200 yards from the car park.

It is possible to have a picnic break at the summit of Pendle Hill and at a picnic site at the end of the walk.

Don't forget to bring
Appropriate footwear as the route follows some rough footpaths. Walkers should also come prepared with warm layers as it can be very cold and exposed at the top of the hill. Dress according to weather conditions. All walkers intending to walk independently of the group must have a mobile phone with them in case of emergencies.

After the walk, we highly recommend a visit to the Pendle Heritage Centre in Barrowfield, only a 10 minute drive away. The Centre is open from 10.00am – 5.00pm daily.
