Enjoy a fun, family walk along the River Tyne that includes a crossing of Gateshead's Millennium Bridge, the world's first and only tilting bridge. Along the way, you will also get to admire views of the Baltic Arts Centre, the Sage Gateshead, Tyne Bridge and St Peters Marina.

How to get there
Walking
Baltic is situated on the Quayside in Gateshead which is a ten minute walk from Gateshead Town Centre. Baltic Square is accessible for pedestrians from the Newcastle Quayside by crossing over the Gateshead Millennium Bridge.
Driving
Take the exit signposted (from the South) Gateshead and Newcastle (Centre) A184 or (from the North) Gateshead A184. Keep in the left-hand lane of the A184 sign posted Gateshead town centre. Go straight through two sets of traffic lights. Get into the right hand lane to go straight over at a third set of lights. At the fourth set of lights, turn left onto Oakwallgate and follow the road around the roundabout and right at the traffic lights (under the Tyne Bridge) onto Hillgate.
Registration
Open from 9.30am – 11.00am.
The walk will begin at 10.30am.
Walk duration
The five mile walk will take a maximum of two hours to complete.

Suitability for dogs
This walk is suitable for dogs, but they must be kept on a lead at all times.
Car parking
There is some paid car parking available at the start of the walk.
Public transport
Quaylink (Q1) buses are available from Gateshead Interchange or Newcastle Central Station. The bright yellow buses run every 10 minutes and go directly to Baltic Square.
Toilets
There are toilet facilities available at the starting and finishing points as well as en-route at cafes and pubs.
Refreshments & picnicking
Bottles of water will be provided at the start of the walk.
Walkers are able to purchase refreshments at Bascule Bar & Restaurant which is approximately three miles from the starting point.
There are no specific picnic areas along the route.
Children's activities
Children will be able to play 'Spot the animal game' along the walk.
Don't forget to bring
Comfortable walking shoes and dress according to weather conditions.
